Class Overview 

Tuesday and Thursday 1:05-2:05


We will be utilizing the Math-U-See Algebra 1 Legacy curriculum for this year-long course.

Major Concepts and Skills Include:

  • Graphing linear equations and inequalities

  • Describing linear equations in slope-intercept and standard form

  • Solving systems of equations using graphing, substitution, and elimination

  • Expanding understanding of exponents

  • Solving basic quadratic equations with factoring

  • Using unit multipliers to convert between units of measure

Additional Concepts and Skills:

  • Applying properties of arithmetic functions to algebra

  • Adding, multiplying, and dividing polynomials

  • Applying significant digits to computations with scientific notation

  • Converting between base 10 and other bases

  • Graphing conic sections

  • Applying significant digits to computations with scientific notationBy the end of this course, students will be ready for Geometry.

  • This is a year-long course and qualifies for charter school reimbursements.

    REQUIRED BOOKS: Purchase curriculum ASAP

  • Math-U-See Algebra 1 Legacy Set (no Integer Blocks or Algebra/Decimal Insert Kit)($133)

•Optional but highly recommended as it includes the manipulatives  Math-U-See Algebra 1 Legacy Set (INCLUDES Integer Blocks or Algebra/Decimal Insert Kit)


SUPPLIES NEEDED:

  • Pencils (+ Lead refills for mechanical Pencils) & Erasers

  • Calculator

  • Post-It-Notes

  • Graph Paper Notebook for showing math work and working out equations & solutions (First one will be provided by Teacher)

  • Straight Edge (first one will be supplied by teacher)

  • A good attitude, ready to learn!

Material Fee: $15 material fee for consumables and other classroom supplies.
