Hello,
My name is Joel Festerly, I grew up as a homeschooled kid in the 80’s. I learned to love learning and teaching. My favorite subjects by far were math and science. I also love to work with my hands which led me into the trades.
I’ve been in the trades my whole adult life and for the last 20 + years in the electrical trade where we use higher math every day. Through out my career I had the privilege to teach and model skills for young apprentices which was an off-shoot of my love for teaching and learning.
More recently, the Lord has called me out in the disciple-making space, specifically the Disciple Making Movement (DMM). I believe we are all called as Christians to not just love but to also obey Christ in all aspects of our lives. I believe young students are the building blocks of our future generations and should be saturated with the Word and Spirit of the Lord in and out of the classroom.
I married my wife in 2006 and we have six children. We began homeschooling in 2010. Our two oldest children graduated this past Spring while our four others will also be attending Ethos this Fall.
I highly value engaging with students and encouraging them to love the process of learning.
