OVERVIEW

This year- long class will be held on Thursdays from 10:05-11:05.

This course introduces students to American Government. Students will engage with the theoretical origins of U.S. government and politics while examining their practical application throughout history.

You can expect your student to dive deep into the foundational principles of our government. We will also be exploring current events and hot topics. This course is taught from a Christian worldview perspective; we will be discussing topics such as immigration, abortion, the death penalty, and more, from a conservative purview. My job is not to sway your student's thinking one way or the other; I aim to facilitate discussion, present facts and explore opinions from all sides. All of us see the world from a specific paradigm; respectful discussion from differing perspectives is expected.

Homework Expectations- there will be required reading each week. This will facilitate our discussions in class. A book report on our Born Again text will be due towards the end of the first semester. Homework questions may be assigned if topics need further explanation or exploring.

CLASSROOM SUPPLIES

  • A 3-ring binder
