PhysEd is every Tuesday 10:05-11:05 AM Grades K-5th
Physical Education is a fun and informative class that teaches the students the benefits of daily functional movement and the importance of acquired daily habits through consistency and discipline. Each class will incorporate a warm up, workout of the day, activity and/or game, and a cool down.
We'll take a look at the design of our bodies and gain a basic understanding of how exercise and nutrition directly and positively impact all the systems of the human body with the inclusion of support for the student's mental, social, physical, and spiritual well-being.
This course will be a K-5 course and each activity, workout, or scheduled movement will be appropriated based off age and skill level. Students will have an opportunity to practice and improve skills in balance, motor, stability, range of motion, leadership, teamwork, and communication.
These skills will be acquired through:
Locomotion (moving from one place to another by walking, running, crawling etc.)
Hinge
Squat
Push
Pull
Rotation
Anti Rotation
Activities will include:
Timed workouts with the inclusion of strength, balance, agility, and cardio performance
Obstacle courses
Team activities
Outdoor activities
Students will learn about the importance of daily healthy habits such as:
Daily movements
Hydration
Nutrition
Screen time
Prayer
Supplies:
Athletic shoes (no slip-on or open toed shoes)
Water bottle
Suggested comfortable workout clothes i.e. warms ups, gym shorts, loose fitting T's or long sleeve shirts
Homework:
Older students can expect a daily simple plan for movements that will be no more than 15 minutes per day 2-3 times per week.
Material Fee: A $10 material fee is charged per semester. All material fees are processed through TeachHero and are typically paid at the time of registration.
