COURSE DESCRIPTION (from publisher):
America’s Story 1 features engaging narrative, beautiful historic illustrations, photographs, maps, and cultural connections. Through this curriculum, your upper elementary homeschool student will explore the ancient Americas to the great Gold Rush, the infancy of our country through the founding of our great nation, and catch glimpses of the leaders who would become known as the Founding Fathers.
*IMPORTANT NOTE: Masterbooks is written from a Christian worldview and will not be reimbursed by charter schools. However, you will have plenty of great work samples to provide throughout the year.
CLASSWORK & HOMEWORK EXPECTATIONS:
This year-long, 1-day per week course is part of the Upper Elementary Core Series. Homework is required. Home and class work will consist of reading, discussing, and exploring the assigned textbook pages. Our time together will include videos, simulations, and activities that help bring the people, places, and events to life. Our various learning activities will include things such as creating timelines, annotated illustrations, comparing/contrasting charts, written summaries or outlines, and identifying key places & events on a map. They will also gather in small groups to discuss leading questions intended to personally and practically explore the topic at hand. Periodically, I will host a review day presented through fun and thought-provoking trivia style games, escape rooms, etc. They will want to come prepared to help carry their team to victory!

Mechanical Pencils with Refills - Please no pencil sharpeners in the classroom. They are very messy.
The long, thin, self-sharpening crayons - colored pencils need constant sharpening and markers bleed through the pages
Dry Erase Pens (fine tip)

Supply box to keep things together and organized in their backpacks
Additional supplies worth having: water bottle (sports lid to prevent spills), tissue, and hand sanitizer
PAYMENT METHODS & SCHEDULE:
The cost of this course is $200/semester plus a $15 non-refundable materials fee for needed supplies. These fees will be paid directly to Ethos who will provide you with payment information and schedules.
