Course Title:  Critical Thinking

Course objective:

Students will learn the foundations of logic, including an introduction to critical thinking, an introduction to logic, basic concepts behind critical thinking, common errors in reasoning, propaganda techniques, advertising techniques, examining arguments and value judgments, and learning to be open-minded through study, discussion, and testing for understanding.

Course methodology (what you can expect from this course):

To meet the course objective, students will:

·     Hear a lecture and participate in discussions

·     Complete assigned work weekly

·     Take tests on the material at the end of each section

Grades will be provided as an aid to parents.

Students will need to purchase the book: Critical Thinking: Book One by Anita Harnadek. Each student should also bring a notebook and pencil/pen to each class prepared to take notes. This class is suitable for Middle School students. It would fulfill a half year of credit for those desiring a class for transcripts. This will be an academic class with homework required.

This class is charter friendly.

Class size should not exceed 20.
