Course Title: U.S. History
Course objective:
Students will learn the fundamentals of the history of the United States of America, including the British colonies of North America, the American founding, the early republic, the American Civil War, the turn of the 20th Century, World War I, World War II, the Cold War, and modern America through study, discussion, and testing for understanding.
Course methodology (what you can expect from this course):
To meet the course objective, students will:
· Hear a lecture and participate in discussions
· Watch videos for enrichment
· Read materials provided
· Fill out worksheets weekly
· Take tests on the material at the end of each section
Grades will be provided as an aid to parents.
Students will be required to purchase: Land of Hope, Wilfred McClay, which is the text book for this course. Also recommended, but not required is: A Student Workbook for Land of Hope, Wilfred McClay and John McBride. Each student should also bring a notebook and pencil/pen to each class prepared to take notes. This class is suitable for High School students. It would fulfill a full year of high school level credit for those desiring a class for transcripts. This will be an academic class with homework being required.
This class is charter friendly.
