First Semester Course Title: Economics
Course objective:
Students will learn the fundamentals of economics including supply, demand, equilibrium, competition, the costs of doing business, profits, savings, competition, economic systems, market structure, loans, investment, and market manipulation through study, discussion, activities, homework, and testing for understanding.
Course methodology (what you can expect from this course):
To meet the course objective, students will:
· Hear a lecture and participate in classroom activities and discussions
· Keep up with reading
· Complete assigned work weekly
· Take a test on the material at the end of the semester
Grades will be provided as an aid to parents.
Students will need to purchase the book: How and Economy Grows and Why It Crashes by Peter and Andrew Schiff. Each student should also bring a notebook and pencil/pen to each class prepared to take notes. This class is suitable for High School students. It would fulfill a half year of high school level credit for those desiring a class for transcripts. This will be an academic class with homework being required.
This class is charter friendly.
Class size should not exceed 20.
Second Semester Course Title: Speech
Course objective:
Students will learn how to design and deliver speeches through study, discussion, practice, practice, and more practice.
Course methodology (what you can expect from this course):
To meet the course objective, students will:
· Hear a lecture and participate in discussions
· Complete other homework as assigned
· Write and deliver speeches
· Get and give feedback on speeches
· Give a final speech before an audience outside of class
Grades will be provided as an aid to parents.
There is no text book for this semester's course. Each student should bring a notebook and pencil/pen to each class prepared to take notes and write drafts. This class is suitable for High School students. It would fulfill a half year of high school level credit for those desiring a class for transcripts. This will be an academic class with homework being required.
This class is charter friendly.
