Course objective:
Students will learn fundamentals of science, including measurement, the basics of geology and meteorology, as well as the basics of physics and astronomy, through study, experimentation, discussion, and testing for understanding.
Course methodology (what you can expect from this course):
To meet the course objective, students will:
· Do experiments
· Write up the labs in a lab notebook according to provided requirements
· Hear a lecture on each of the topics addressed in the curriculum
· Read the text
· Answer the study guide questions at the end of each section
· Take a test on the material at the end of each section
Grades will be provided as an aid to parents.
Students will need to purchase the text book: Apologia: Exploring Creation with Physical Science (2nd Edition). There will be a class fee of $10.00 per student for lab supplies (students will be teamed up for labs), fees should be paid to Jeralynne Bobinski by check or cash and can be delivered to the instructor on the first day of classes, or by mail to 10140 W. Meadowlark St., Boise, ID 83704. Each student should also supply a lab notebook, which should be a three-ring binder with loose leaf paper. This class is suitable for Middle School students. It would fulfill a full year of Middle School level credit for those trying to stick with state standards. This will be an academic class with homework required.
This class is considered faith-based and may not be charter friendly. Check with your charter to verify that.
