Exploring Creation with Botany, 2nd Edition, is a homeschool science curriculum for upper elementary students. Each lesson is written in a conversational tone and is created using vivid graphics, engaging lessons and hands-on projects that will make learning about botany fun!
As your student works through the lessons and activities, they will explore topics that include Seeded and Seedless Plants, Grouping Plants, Germination, Angiosperms, Mycology, Gymnosperms, Roots and Root Systems to name just a few.
This is a 1-day per week class (Thurs. @10:05am-11:05am) and is part of the Upper Elementary Core Series. Apologia has been the go-to science curriculum of homeschoolers for well over a decade. This one day per week class will teach, inspire and encourage students to see their world in a whole new way! It is designed for students in grades 3-6. We will be doing activities and labs throughout the semester that may include using supplies such as latex gloves, adhesives, various foods which may include food coloring or dyes (NO peanut products), plant & soil specimens, common household chemicals such as vinegar, soaps that may include fragrances, etc. Your student’s comfort and safety are my number one priority so please make sure that I am aware of any allergies and sensitivities.
Weekly homework will consist of reading the textbook and completing pages in Apologia's engaging Notebooking Journal. It will be expected that most of the week’s homework (~1-2 hours per week depending on the student) be completed prior to class on Thursday afternoons. This allows for rich and engaging classroom discussions, review games, labs & activities. This is a year-long course and is not eligible for charter school funds due to its religious nature. However, there will be plenty of quality work samples for you to provide.
The cost of this course is $160/semester and will be paid directly to ETHOS. They will provide you with payment information and schedules.
There is a $35 materials fee for this course which will cover the cost of supplies needed for class group work, labs, activities and printing. These fees are due 8/5 for the Fall semester and 1/5 for the Spring semester. You can pay this via Venmo or check. If paying by check when school is out of session, please contact me for an address at [email protected].
