Ashley Whitten
Hi Everyone! My name is Ashley Whitten, and I will be teaching Hands on STEM and Storybook STEM come the 2025-2026 school year.
A little about me...I have been married to my husband for 14 years and we have three beautiful yet spunky daughters that are 11, 11, & 13. Yes, You read that right, I have twins! They are fraternal, so yes you can tell them apart. If you can tell, that is a question I get often. Haha. My oldest will be heading into high school in the fall and the other two are going into 7th grade. We have been homeschooling for 9 years and wouldn't have it any other way, Yes, it can be hard, but the rewards outweigh the challenges. We are a really active family that loves to get involved in all different kinds of activities, from sports to arts, cooking, and youth ministries. We love it all. We also love serving together. While my girls were in American Heritage Girls for 5 years, I was their leader. Now they help me serve in our church's kids ministry, where I have been serving for the last 5 years.
Through various forms of teaching and serving, over the last 9 years I have really enjoyed walking alongside children and helping them learn from hands on experiences. All forms of learning are useful, but my favorite is when we are able to build and get creative in our own ways. Teaching this through STEM has been a blast over the years. To really get kids to think outside of the box and push themselves is pretty important in life and I enjoy being able to watch them work through these challenges.
When we are not emersed in school, our family loves to obsess over our Mini Australian Sheppard "Boba", garden, paddle board, or simply find any activity to do together. From relaxing at home and watching movies, to checking our libraries or parks around the Treasure Valley, we are all for it.
