Welcome! My name is Nichole Thomas, students call me Mrs. T, Miss Nichole and some call me Coach Nichole - all work for me! I am incredibly honored to partner with you on your homeschool journey. Encouraging and guiding students to become strong, capable, God-loving world-changers sets my heart on fire! I, too, am a parent, and am so grateful for the unique and wholesome model of Ethos Academy.
My classroom philosophy: I believe that I am the thermostat for the classroom. Meaning - the energy and passion I bring will impact the state of the students. This is something I model and teach. I like to empower students with this simple reminder, and my family motto: There are only two things in life you can control - your effort and your attitude. The rest is up to the Lord. I also believe in modeling respect and integrity.
The culmination of my twenty years of professional and vocational service, coupled with my time homeschooling, has led me to this cherished chapter in time teaching at Ethos Academy. I have spent many years teaching and coaching in a variety of capacities; including my time as Director of a Chamber of Commerce, an AVP/ Business Development Manager at a Credit Union, a credentialed Behavioral Change Specialist and Certified Personal Trainer for private coaching, and time serving in the kids ministry and at VBS. I spent years leading seminars on financial literacy, goal setting, and leading a variety of topics on health and fitness at libraries, businesses, colleges, and high schools, and coaching teens and adults 1:1.
I moved to Boise in 2022 with my husband and son. Our oldest two daughters are in college in Mississippi and California and love their time visiting us in our Idahome. We first fell in love with Idaho in 2020 and are grateful God led us here after several leaps of faith. We had our 4th child, a baby girl, in August of 2023. Her name means “God Shall Add” - she is such an answered prayer and such a joy for our family. My husband is a Lieutenant at a local law enforcement department.
We love staying active as a family and sports are a regular part of our schedule. We also enjoy floating down the river, tubing on the lake, hiking and sharing stories around a good campfire. I love reading non-fiction, refinishing furniture, painting, and all things crafts! My husband and I enjoy coaching our children’s sports teams. The last team I coached was Spring 2023 soccer and I was very pregnant running around with the U8 boys!
I graduated from San Jose State University with a bachelor's degree in Communication Studies and a minor in Nutrition Science & Kinesiology. During college, I was a tutor in the communication studies lab, a fitness instructor on and off campus, and taught kid fitness classes at a private sports club. After college, I never lost my love for learning. I enjoy reading and taking continued education courses which are required to maintain my C.P.T. and B.C.S. credentials.
I look forward to connecting with you and your child and making this a memorable year marked by growth and joy!
