Elective Class

Class is Full

Entrepreneurship (3rd–6th Grade)

Class Overview

This Entrepreneurship class is designed to introduce students to the exciting world of business in a fun and hands-on way. Throughout the year, students will learn how businesses start, how ideas turn into products, and how entrepreneurs solve problems for others.

Students will explore topics like creating business ideas, designing products, advertising, customer service, and understanding how money works in a simple and practical way.

This class will include a lot of creativity and discussion. Students will have the opportunity to brainstorm ideas, work through small projects, and even create their own simple business concepts.

Entrepreneurship teaches more than just business skills. It helps students develop creativity, confidence, responsibility, and problem-solving — skills that will benefit them in many areas of life.

My goal is for students to leave this class feeling inspired, confident in their ideas, and excited about what they can create.

⸻

Coursework + Work at Home

At Ethos Academy, we use a hybrid learning model, which means some learning continues at home.

Students may occasionally have small assignments such as:

• Brainstorming business ideas

• Thinking of product names or logos

• Simple worksheets about money or customers

• Short planning activities for their business project

Most weeks this will take 15–30 minutes.

These assignments are designed to help students think creatively and continue developing the ideas we start in class.

⸻

Understanding Entrepreneurship

Entrepreneurship means finding ways to create something valuable that helps other people.

In this class students will learn about:

• How businesses start

• What makes a good business idea

• How products are created

• Why customer service matters

• How businesses earn money

Students will also get the chance to imagine and develop their own small business ideas throughout the semester.

The goal isn’t perfection — it’s learning how ideas grow and how hard work can turn an idea into something real.

Kid Shark Tank Project

One of the highlights of the class will be our Kid Shark Tank Project.

Throughout the semester, students will work on developing their own simple business idea. They will think through questions like:

• What problem does my product solve?

• Who would want to buy it?

• What makes my idea special?

Students will design a name for their business, create a simple logo, and plan how they would sell their product or service.

At the end of the semester, students will have the opportunity to present their idea during our Kid Shark Tank Day, where they will pitch their business to the class. This is always a fun and encouraging activity where students practice confidence, creativity, and public speaking.

The goal is not competition, but helping students learn how to explain their ideas, think like entrepreneurs, and celebrate each other’s creativity.

⸻

A Note About Learning Through Creativity

One of the most exciting parts of entrepreneurship is using creativity to solve problems and come up with new ideas.

Students will be encouraged to think outside the box, try new ideas, and learn from mistakes. Sometimes the best ideas come from experimenting and trying again.

This class is designed to be fun, interactive, and encouraging so students feel comfortable sharing their ideas and learning from one another.

⸻

Classroom Supplies

Please have the following items available for class use:

• Notebook or folder for class work

• Pencil or pen

• Colored pencils or markers

Additional materials for projects will be provided in class.

⸻

Materials Fee

This one-hour course tuition is $200 per semester with a materials fee of $40.

The materials fee helps cover:

• Printed worksheets and activity pages

• Business project materials

• Art supplies for logos, signs, and product ideas

• Classroom supplies used throughout the semester

The materials fee is collected during registration and is non-refundable and non-transferable.

⸻

Parent Partnership, Student Expectations & Classroom Culture

Parent Partnership

Parents play an important role in encouraging students as they explore their ideas and creativity. Talking about business ideas at home and encouraging kids to think about how things are made or sold can help reinforce what they are learning in class.

Parents are always welcome to reach out with questions or feedback during the year.

⸻

Student Responsibility

Students will get the most out of this class by participating, sharing ideas, and working hard on their projects.

Students are expected to:

• Listen during instruction

• Participate in discussions and activities

• Respect the ideas of their classmates

• Try their best on projects and assignments

Entrepreneurship is about creativity and effort, and every student’s ideas are valued.

⸻

Classroom Culture & Expectations

This class will be interactive, creative, and encouraging. Students will have opportunities to share ideas, work on projects, and collaborate with their classmates.

Respect for others and a positive attitude are important so everyone can learn and enjoy the class together.

My goal is to create an environment where students feel excited to learn, confident sharing ideas, and proud of what they create.
