Foundations Worldview (3-7)

Thu · 10:05am-11:05am

Elective Class

Class is Full

Class Overview
I am passionate about teaching kids to think biblically and helping students build a strong biblical worldview, and why it matters. I have multiple years experience teaching these concepts to a wide age range of students and have seen firsthand the benefits of equipping our youngest believers early with the tools they need to discern competing worldviews. In this class, students will start learning how to think biblically and critically about some of life’s biggest questions! Using the Foundation Worldview curriculum, we will explore key concepts like Truth, God, Life, Humans, and Morality through Scripture and thoughtful discussion. Students will see what competing worldviews teach and how the Christian worldview uniquely lines up with reality according to the Bible. Each week, we’ll watch short teaching videos, do hands-on activities, and have discussions that help students practice spotting truth and error in culture, media, and everyday life.

Parents: I encourage you to watch this conversation with Elizabeth Urbanowicz, the founder of the Foundation Worldview curriculum. She talks about why it’s so important to intentionally teach a Christian worldview to kids and what can happen when we don’t. Elizabeth shares insights into the challenges children face today and how a strong biblical foundation can guide their thinking and decisions. This video gives a clear picture of the why behind what your child is learning and practical ways you can reinforce these lessons at home.

Learning Objectives:
By the end of class, students will:

• Have a foundational understanding of Naturalism, Postmodernism, Islam, and New Spirituality
• Understand a key worldview questions (like What is truth? or Does worship matter?) and see how Scripture answers it.
• Answer how four other worldviews answer the same questions differently.
• Apply biblical thinking to everyday situations and personal decisions.

Class Structure (approx.):

  1. Welcome & Opening (5 min) – Prayer and recap of previous lessons.

  2. Video Teaching (10–15 min) – Watch a short lesson from the Foundation Worldview series.

  3. Guided Discussion (15 min) – Talk about the video, connect it to Scripture, and relate it to students’ lives.

  4. Activity (15 min) – Small group or individual activity reinforcing the lesson’s main idea.

  5. Wrap-Up (10 min) – Share insights, answer questions, and give a brief challenge or application for the week.

Home Connection:
Each week, your child will bring home a Home Connection Sheet. These include short discussion questions, activities, and Scripture references to help you talk about what they learned. They’re designed to make it easy to connect at home and encourage conversations that strengthen your child’s understanding and application of a biblical worldview.

Classroom Expectations

I strive to to create an engaging learning atmosphere in my classroom. A strong learning environment requires students to be respectful of one another and focused during instruction. This means that when I am speaking or giving directions, students are expected to listen attentively avoid side conversations and stay on task.

Working together to keep our classroom, focused, respectful, and encouraging we will create a space where every student can learn, ask questions, and deepen in their faith.
