English Literature (3-4)
This is a year-long, two-day-a-week English Literature core class. Students will automatically be enrolled for both semesters. In this class, students in grades 3-4 will embark on a fun and exciting journey, exploring various literary genres and learning how each has its own unique features and characteristics and how to identify them.
Students will learn to identify the differences between fiction and nonfiction and various literary genres. Through group activities, discussions, and creative projects, students will deepen their understanding of the written word while learning to make connections and use inference skills to help them "read between the lines.” Students will practice using clues from the text—like character actions, dialogue, and descriptions—to draw conclusions and make predictions.
Whether students are new to literature or already passionate readers, they’ll enjoy this engaging and imaginative class designed to spark their creativity and enhance their love for literature!

Parent Partnership, Student Expectations & Classroom Culture
Parent Partnership
Parents play a vital role in encouraging and supporting their students as they develop strong study habits. Your encouragement, structure at home, and positive communication about school make a meaningful difference in your student’s success.
Parents are always welcome to contact me with any questions, concerns, or clarification needed throughout the year.
Student Responsibility
To get the most out of our class time together, students are expected to take ownership of their learning by:
comping prepared with a pencil that is easily accessible
Follow classroom rules and expectations
Read their book at home
Listen to and respect any teachers aid or classroom assistant
Classroom Culture & Expectations
I aim to create a fun, engaging and focused learning environment in my classroom. A strong learning environment requires students to be respectful of one another and focused during instruction.
This means that when I am speaking or giving directions, students are expected to listen attentively, avoid side conversations, and stay on task. Social time is valued, but it should not take away from learning time.
By working together to keep our classroom focused, respectful, and encouraging, we create a space where every student can learn, feel supported, and gain confidence in their math abilities!
