Shakers and Bakers (1-12)

Thu · 1:05pm-2:05pm

Elective Class

Class is Full

Welcome to Shakers and Bakers (1-12)!

Cooking and learning in the kitchen is a fun and delicious life-skill. This fun and tasty class is geared toward cooperative learning, as we create both simple and complex dishes. This family-style class is for students in 1st through 12th grade. Why? Multi-age teams that work together foster friendships! Older students grow mentoring skills while working alongside a younger student. Younger chefs will learn communication skills and "how to" skills while working with older students. We will review everything from kitchen tool safety and plating techniques to cleaning/storing food items. We will grow in understanding recipes and keys to good nutrition. Most of all, we will have fun creating flavorful foods to share.

This class will be held every Thursday from :1:05 PM. to 2:05 PM.  Students enrolled in this course will be enrolled for both semesters.

My goal in this course is to foster communication and teamwork in the kitchen,, while creating meaningful meals.  At the end of the year, our collection of scrumptious recipes will be collected in personalized recipe binders. My hope is to see confidence grow, along with an eagerness to cook our tried recipes for family at home.

This is a peanut-free zone during all cooking classes.
