Welcome to **Guardians of the Gospel**, a dynamic and engaging year-long course designed for students eager to explore the rich tapestry of Christian thought, defend their faith, and engage critically with the world around them. This class will meet every Tuesday from 2:10 PM to 3:10 PM, providing a structured yet interactive environment where students can participate in thoughtful discussions and develop their understanding of apologetics.
Throughout the course, students will delve into foundational concepts of Biblical apologetics, focusing on the defense of the Gospel and the application of critical thinking. Using the **30-Lesson Apologetics Study Student Book** from Concordia Publishing House as our primary text, we will explore various philosophical arguments and the laws of logic that underpin effective communication of faith. Students will engage in conversation-based learning, encouraging them to voice their thoughts and questions in a supportive atmosphere. By examining vernacular and concepts that are often overlooked in today’s fast-paced world, we will cultivate an appreciation for the depth and relevance of Christian truths.
The course is designed to be minimally burdensome in terms of homework, allowing students to focus on class participation and engagement. While there will be occasional projects aimed at practicing the skills learned in class, the emphasis will be on creating an interactive dialogue where each student’s voice contributes to our collective understanding. Students will learn how to articulate their beliefs clearly and confidently, drawing from the Word of God as our ultimate standard for truth. Together, we will explore various methods for demonstrating this standard to a lost and dying world, equipping students to navigate challenging conversations about faith and belief with grace and clarity.
One of the primary goals of this course is to empower students to develop a robust and well-reasoned faith. By the end of the school year, students will not only be able to defend their beliefs but also engage in meaningful discussions with others who may hold different worldviews. They will gain confidence in their ability to articulate their faith and will learn to approach conversations with empathy and understanding, recognizing the importance of love and respect in all interactions.
As a culmination of our year-long journey, students will participate in an exciting out-of-class excursion to a local campus, where they will have the opportunity to witness firsthand what it is like to engage in evangelism and share their faith in a real-world setting. This experience promises to be both exhilarating and eye-opening, as students encounter diverse perspectives and practice the skills they have developed throughout the course. Together, we will navigate the vibrancy of campus life, filled with the energy of young minds and the bustling atmosphere of academic discourse. This adventure will serve as a powerful reminder of the importance of sharing the Gospel in today’s world, prompting students to reflect on their roles as ambassadors of Christ.
