Overview:
I am delighted to offer an Algebra II class for the 2025-2026 school year. We will be meeting on both Tuesday and Thursday at the 4th section from 1:10-2:10 for the entire school year, i.e. both semesters. The class will cover all Algebra II concepts and will review any Algebra I or Geometry concepts that might have been missed prior, to make sure the Algebra II concepts are understood and retained. The class will cover a section weekly in their books, with plenty of time reserved for questions and review. My goal is to give students confidence and understanding. I have taught this class many times over the years with other co-ops and I am excited for the opportunity to teach here. Algebra I is a prerequisite.
I have taught many teens this course including those with dyslexia, dysgraphia and other learning obstacles. Please feel free to reach out if you need to.
Homework:
Each week we will complete 1 chapter in the book. The book is broken up into 5 sections designed for students to do 1 section a day. There is a bonus section that can be done for extra credit. On average you should allow 45 minutes to complete the page. I will allow time in class to start to make sure everyone understands and is able to do the work successfully. I will be collecting and grading the homework on a regular basis. We will have occasional tests. Based on knowledge and proven understanding, students can earn the right to do partial sections or other bonuses to lighten their load and award their efforts and application.
Classroom Supplies:
I ask that you purchase the following:
Student Workbook: 978-1-60826-343-1
Test Booklet: 978-1-60826-349-3
https://store.demmelearning.com/cdn/shop/files/Algebra2_StudentPack_1000_1160x.jpg?v=1737051065 ; $48.00 on the Math-U-See Website. There are many places to find and buy it, we would need the US Edition.
If you have a child that is very nervous in math or just feels better having more resources at their disposal you can purchase the manual or dvd's but it is NOT required. The manual will have all the answers in the back of the book written out (as an FYI).
If your child prefers pen to pencil, I ask that it be an erasable variety.
Payment Methods and Schedule:
This two hour core course tuition is $480/semester plus a $10 material fee.
All class tuition payments are paid directly to Ethos Academy through the Learning Management System upon registration. Parents will enroll in classes and set up their chosen payment method (either pay in full or monthly) via Bank ACH. The material fee is collected immediately upfront upon class registration. The material fee is non-refundable and non-transferable.
