Unlocking Creativity: Writing Workshop

 This core class is for students in grades 3-6 who are looking to explore their creativity, improve their writing skills, and gain confidence in expressing their thoughts and ideas. Whether your student is beginning to create paragraphs, struggling, or looking to enhance their creative style, this class will provide the space to grow and develop their writing skills and confidence!

Course Structure

  • Each class will consist of a combination of lessons, writing exercises, and group discussions/activities. Students will be encouraged to share their work in a supportive environment, helping to build a sense of community and peer feedback.

  • This class is designed to meet your student where they are at and improve their writing skills.

Students Will Learn

  • How to edit and revise to improve their writing.

  • How to build onto sentences and paragraphs to make them more interesting and engaging

  • What we can do to improve “boring”

  • Writing that includes stories, narrative, opinion, instruction, informative, poetry, and more.

  • Learn different writing styles- intuitive and structured, and discover which one they are

Materials Needed:

  • Lined notebook

  • 1-inch binder

  • Pencils

  • Pencil sharpener (or mechanical pencils and no sharpener)

  • Eraser

  • Red pen

  • Markers

  • Pencil bag

End Result: By the end of this course, students will have developed a deeper understanding of writing, honed their creative expression, gained confidence in their ability to write, identified their writing style, and how to use that to their advantage. They will leave with a collection of stories, reports, poems and more, and an understanding that writing is not just about rules—it's about discovery, imagination, and personal voice.

Assessment: Assessment will be based on participation, effort, and student work development.

Payment Methods and Schedule

This one-hour class tuition is $240 per semester and requires a $20 material fee upon enrollment. The fee is non-refundable or transferable. Material fee is for printing costs associated with this class.

Upon registration, all tuition and payments are paid directly to Ethos Academy through the Learning Management System. Parents will set up their preferred payment (in full or monthly) via bank ACHD.
