This is a year-long, two-day-a-week (Tuesday and Thursday 11:10-12:10) core English Literature class. Students will automatically be enrolled for both semesters. In this class, students in grades 3-4 will embark on a fun and exciting journey, exploring various literary genres and learning how each has its own unique features and characteristics and how to identify them.
Students will learn to identify the differences between fiction and nonfiction and the importance of elements like plot, character, and setting. Through group activities, discussions, and creative projects, students will deepen their understanding of the written word while learning to make connections and use inference skills to help them "read between the lines.” Students will practice using clues from the text—like character actions, dialogue, and descriptions—to draw conclusions and make predictions.
