Introduction to Beginning Guitar for 3rd to 6th Graders
Class Overview:
In this course, students will embark on an exciting musical adventure, learning the basics of playing the guitar from scratch. Each session will cover essential techniques, music theory concepts, and fun exercises to develop their skills gradually.
Curriculum Highlights:
- Introduction to the Guitar: Students will become familiar with the parts of the guitar, how to hold it properly, and basic guitar maintenance.
- Fundamental Techniques: They will learn how to produce clear and consistent sounds through proper finger placement, picking, and strumming techniques.
- Reading Music: Basic music notation and tablature will be introduced, allowing students to understand and play simple melodies and songs.
- Chords and Rhythms: Students will explore simple chord shapes and learn how to transition between them smoothly. They will also develop a sense of rhythm through various strumming patterns and exercises.
- Song Repertoire: Throughout the course, students will learn a variety of age-appropriate songs, ranging from classic children's tunes to praise & worship songs.
Materials Required:
- Acoustic or electric guitar (appropriate size for the child)
- Guitar picks
- Tuner (electronic or app)
- Notebook and pencil for taking notes
- Three Ring Binder with sheets protectors
- $20 for supplies
