Heaven & Earth: Geology, Astronomy, Meteorology (5-6)

OVERVIEW

This year-long science class is an earth science and astronomy course that reveals God's creation of the land and skies with geology, astronomy, and meteorology.  It will be held every Tuesday from 10:05am to 11:05am. 

The structure of this class will be inquiry based with a combination of project based learning, experiments, and group work based upon the material read at home.  Students will be expected to read their science books at home and complete about one hour or less of homework per week.  Students will be presenting independent projects in class.

Learning will take place in a safe, exciting, and interactive environment where they will be challenged to accept and appreciate mistakes as valuable learning opportunities.  

My goal with this course is to support, challenge, and encourage all students and spark a love of learning and exploration.  I love watching the wonder in their eyes as they discover the wonder of the world. I am excited to partner with you on this journey.

HOMEWORK:

Some homework will be assigned weekly.  On average, you should allow for approximately 30 mins to one hour of homework each week.  I will not be collecting or grading homework, however, it is important that homework is completed and brought to class for discussions and activities.

• 1 Composition notebook
• Mechanical pencils w/ extra lead (no pencil sharpeners please, these are super messy and distracting)
• Colored pencils (no markers please)
• Yellow highlighter
• Post-it notes
• Tape
• Glue stick (permanent please)
• Scissors
• Additional supplies worth having: supply box, backpack, tissue, and hand sanitizer

TUITION:

The cost of this course is $160/semester and will be paid directly to ETHOS. They will provide you with payment information and schedules.

MATERIAL FEE:

The material fee for this course is $40/semester.   This material fee is due prior to the first day of instruction and acts as a deposit for the class.
