Masterbooks: Ancient History (6-8)

Thu 10:05am-11:05am

Class Description

OVERVIEW

This year-long ancient history class is a middle school course that will utilize the Master Books: The World's Story 1: The Ancients Set.  This course will bring history alive through a Charlotte Mason approach as it teaches junior-high students the amazing history of the ancient world.  Students will study world history from Creation to the Roman Empire.  It will be held every Thursday from 10:05AM to 11:05AM.

The structure of this class will be a project based learning that will integrate timelines, group projects, and presentations.  Students will be expected to read their history books independently and complete about one hour of homework (give or take) per week.  Students will be encouraged to speak in front of others, as well as encourage and help others grow across multiple curricular areas through readings, discussions, projects, and presentations.

Learning will take place in a safe, exciting, and interactive environment where they will be challenged to accept and appreciate mistakes as valuable learning opportunities.

My goal with this course is to support, challenge, and encourage all students and spark a love of learning and history.  I am very excited to partner with you in the ancient history adventure!

HOMEWORK:

Homework will be assigned weekly.  On average, you should allow for approximately one hour of homework each week.  There will be some assignments that will have rubrics just for feedback to the student and to the parents.  I will not be collecting or grading homework, however, it is important that homework is completed and brought to class for class discussions and activities.
